I'm Shirin, a freelance creature concept designer, animal artist, and scientific illustrator based in Glasgow, Scotland. With a background in biology and palaeontology, I love designing fantastical creatures with an air of believability, and I'm especially well suited for projects requiring an in-depth knowledge of animal anatomy and other aspects of biology. Whether it's creating realistic creatures for a planet far away, speculative evolution on Earth, dinosaurs, or even your pet or favourite animal, I've got you covered. I work in a range of media so as to create a variety of asthetics. Currently I offer commissioned work in graphite, colour pencil, copic marker, watercolour, ink, charcoal, soft pastel, and digital media. I produce both realistic and stylised work.

In addition to illustrating, I also teach, holding art classes online and in and around Glasgow. I also offer private tuition and mentoring for developing artists, hobbyists, and art students. While I specialise in animals, I teach a range of subjects and also offer tuition for academic art courses.

I'm also a trained editor, specialising in fantasy and science fiction manuscripts. I can handle editing at any stage whether it be developmental, line editing or proofing. As well as working on perfecting the prose of a manuscript, I can also offer scientific consultation where needed for world-building and other elements of the story. When I'm not helping others with their artwork and writing, I'm working on my own. I'm dedicated to my own series of illustrated fantasy novels, which I hope to one day share with you all.
